ABOUT MELORIUM EMPORIUM
Melorium Emporium is an independent antique dealership run by husband and wife team Anne and Ian, and based in Kingston Upon Thames.
They have a diverse collection of antiques, collectables, and curios including tea caddies, clocks, Victorian tables, and Edwardian furniture. They also provide a restoration service for furniture and clocks, restoring them to their former glory.
BACKGROUND
Anne and Ian have always been interested in antiques, having renovated many old homes - including a 17th century farmhouse - which required antique furniture to fill them. 12 months ago they took the plunge and set up an antique space in the Kingston Antique Centre.
To promote the business, they soon realized they needed a website. They were recommended the services of it’seeze Web Design Twickenham whilst attending a local networking event. This was Anne’s first experience of having a website built from scratch.
After a detailed discussion with our team about her requirements for the site and how she wanted it to look, Anne opted for our Lite website package.
SOLUTION - DESIGN
Our talented team worked closely with Anne to create a design that expertly met her brief and reflected both the nature of her business and her aspirations for her new venture.
The main requirement was for the new website to have a professional but simple feel, with a neutral colour palette but emphasis on antiquity, history, and heritage. This led our design team to create the site in an array of muted brown tones, with images of libraries, antique furniture, etc. with a warm, authentic, and unique look and feel to it.
"The site looks very professional and inviting," comments Anne.
"It’s simple to navigate, and the images chosen by the it’seeze design team are a good fit; especially the ‘feel’ of antiquity reflected in a modern website. The website has a clean, fresh appearance with pop out photos of our antiques”.
"I’m very happy with the website design and am confident it will make the right impression with current and prospective customers."
PROCESS
Anne found the design and development process straightforward, with the it’seeze team always on hand to answer any questions. She chose to produce the written copy herself and sent this to it’seeze to be uploaded onto the new site.
"My local consultant Ian provided me with great support throughout the process and was always quick to respond to my queries," says Anne.
Once the site was live, Anne received training on using our straightforward website editor. "It’s really easy to add and change the content, I can update and change pictures of stock which has been sold and new stock coming in – which is often!"
“The transition from our old website to the new one - including the transfer of emails - went smoothly thanks to Ian. He explained everything in detail and gave me clear instructions for the transition”.
"it’seeze Web Design Twickenham are a pleasure to work with and I’d happily recommend them to other business owners looking for a high-quality online presence."
